Catherine Dauphin is a queer, mixed race writer, director and actress based in London. She was born in south of France and grew up across Europe and the UK. She has a BA in English Literature from University College of London, and an MA in Literature & Film from the Sorbonne University Paris.
She has over 8 years of experience in the Film industry and is currently developing her first feature film Double Negative, selected at Torino Film Lab 2024. She has worked alongside directors and actors such as Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Vicky Krieps, Emily Atef, and Gaspard Ulliel. Her work focuses on female and queer stories, especially taking place in cross-cultural spaces.
She dreams of living by the sea and changes hair colour when she feels too many feelings. Her dreams and grocery lists are a mix of English, French and mysterious.
In 2020, her miniseries, What We Talk About When We Talk About Sex, was selected at Series Mania (Lille, France) and Seriencamp (Munich, Germany) Festivals. Her latest short film, Amazonas, follows the different lives of women living around the Amazon river, and was produced by Playlab Films during the 2022 Creators Lab led by Apichatpong Weerasethakul.
