At the border of Bolivia and Peru, on the Amazon river, three women find different ways to fulfil themselves. When their families are out, they escape. Lia loves dancing. Valeria loves church. And Catherine loves filming. A three-way portrait of femininity, love away from home, and hidden identities.
The film was created as part of the 2022 Creators Lab by Playlab Films led by Apichatpong Weerasethakul: Filming in the Amazon.

Premiere
A contemporary dance company prepares for an enthralling first night. Led by young black choreographer Murphy, with as lead his girlfriend and prodigy dancer Ariane, the group starts on an ambitious journey of creation, isolated in a residency by the sea. Each of them, Murphy, Ariane, James, Sally and George, yearn to start anew in life and in dance. Cooped up together, the dancers struggle to keep their secrets to themselves, and slowly, in the intensity and closeness of rehearsals, their true selves come out - for better or for worse.

The Black Hole & the Dreaming Octopus
April 2019, London. The first image of a black hole appears on the news. Marianne, 30 year-old oil trader in the City, is stuck in her own black hole - a dysfunctional relationship, an antagonizing job. As she discovers that her estranged mother has gone back to Vietnam, she embarks on a journey to unravel the past mysteries of her and her mother’s lives.

Marianne’s Café
Following her mother's death, Marianne runs a derelict cafe in London, escaping her loneliness with casual sex. Until she meets her mother's lookalike and has to confront her past.
This film is part of the same project as The Black Hole and the Dreaming Octopus. It is meant as a proof of concept and prequel to the feature project.
